Mission
The mission of Princess Chambers is to provide Black, Indigenous, and young women of color from under-served communities entering their senior year of high school with resources, opportunities and support that will prepare them for college and post secondary success.
Programs and Initiatives
Prom Boutique
Princess Chambers Inc. has provided free prom dresses and accessories to approximately 100 underprivileged young women throughout New York City per year. In addition to attire, students receive a luxurious shopping experience that includes makeup application, hair consultations, manicures and a mini-photoshoot. This annual event has served over 800 young women since 2009 and attracts over 50 volunteers per year. This event is held at the NY Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge.
Crowned Princess Scholarship Award
The Crowned Princess Scholarship was established in 2015 to provide funding towards a young woman's college education. Eight young women have received financial contributions towards their college education since inception. The majority of our recipients are first generation college students.
Mentorship program
Adjust Her Crown Mentoring program connects underserved girls in high school senior year with compassionate professional women throughout New York City to empower, motivate and assist with their college and post-secondary success. Areas of focus include skills development, goal setting/ career planning, self-esteem building, healthy relationships, self-care and mental health, and civic engagement.
Community Service
Mercy Home’s provides services for children and adults with developmental disabilities. As a community service event, our organization hosts a pampering day to give back to the Mercy Homes community. A small group of our volunteers provide manicures, makeup application, and a photo shoot for the women that reside there. The attendees age range is between 30-70 years old.
