What does being a Crowned Princess Scholarship recipient mean to you, and how has it impacted your college journey?

Being a Crowned Princess Scholarship recipient was an incredible blessing. It changed how I felt as I prepared to move into my college dorm. Before receiving the scholarship, I stressed daily about how I would afford all of my college essentials without putting too much financial pressure on my parents. I also worried about not having enough spending money in case I needed to buy things after moving in. I still remember the day I received the call from Jenn. I debated whether to even pick up because it was an unknown number. That call ended up lifting a huge weight off my shoulders and allowed me to enter college with excitement rather than anxiety.

Moreover, it gave me an incredible community. When I got to Penn, there was another princess (shoutout Aisha!) who supported me through my college transition and was always happy to catch up over coffee. Jenn also visited during my first freshman final season and would check in regularly, which reminded me that I had a group of supporters who were always willing to help me throughout my journey.

As you prepare to graduate, what are you most proud of accomplishing during your time in college?

I am most proud of how much I have grown as an individual. When I first arrived at Penn, I wasn’t as open to change or new experiences as I am now. Over time, I’ve learned that there is just as much, if not more, beauty in the unknown as there is in the familiar. That mindset has brought so much excitement into my life, and I’m eager to keep learning more about myself and the world around me. At the same time, I am incredibly proud to be the first Ivy League graduate in my immediate family (a reality I’m still processing). I truly couldn’t have done it without the support of my family, loved ones, and communities like Princess Chambers.

How has your experience with Princess Chambers shaped who you are today or influenced your future goals?

My experience with Princess Chambers has continually reminded me of the importance of authenticity and self-love. Although I had grown a lot by the time I found Princess Chambers, my first garden party was unlike anything I had ever experienced. For the first time, I was surrounded by women who fully loved themselves, expressed themselves freely, and saw me as beautiful inside and out.

Every time I return to a garden party, I leave thinking, “Wow, these women are so incredible, talented, and beautiful,” and I feel recharged to keep pursuing my dreams. The boldness I witness inspires me to find my own version of boldness and has positively shaped how I carry myself. These experiences have inspired me to pour into younger girls and create that same sense of support and empowerment as I grow into spaces where I can make that impact.

What’s next for you after graduation, and what dreams are you excited to pursue?

After graduation, I will be joining Teach For America as a 7-12 grade biology teacher! I’m incredibly excited about this opportunity because I’m deeply passionate about education and inspiring the next generation. During my time at Penn, I pursued several opportunities to teach and mentor, and I’m eager to continue building on that passion. As I prepare to move back to NYC, I’m also looking forward to the exploration, growth, and self-discovery that will come with this next chapter.

What advice would you give to younger girls who hope to follow in your footsteps one day?

My advice would be to be bold, take risks, pursue your dreams relentlessly, and above all, trust yourself. These all sound very cliché, but they are things I now live by. I spent a significant part of my college experience curious about “what ifs” and wanting to try new things, and I think I would have gotten even more out of my experience if I had leaned into that curiosity sooner. The good thing is it’s never too late to start.
